The trees are gone and the mess is here! Over the last few weeks, our grounds crew and Galle Enterprises have taken down nearly 200 trees throughout out golf course (with a few more still to come), with majority of the tree work coming from 18 fairway and 12 & 13 fairway. If you haven't had a chance to play hole 18 in particular since the trees have been removed, you have to check it out! Standing on the tee box, you can see a much more open, beautiful fairway and you can even see parts of the clubhouse as well.
While taking down the trees between 12 & 13, our grounds crew uncovered a natural spring, which has caused the area to be much more wet than normal. We haulted the tree removal company because we didn't want to cause more damage, but now we are left with an additional project we were not planning to have. However, our Superintedent, Shane Harrelson has a great plan set in place! We're currently using an excavater to remove the additional tree limbs and debris, allowing us create a creek channel. This will allow us to catch any water that is coming up from the natural spring, as well as any water that will flow downhill.
The cart paths on 12 and 13 took a beating through this process - but don't worry! While our golf course is closed, we plan to repair several areas throughout the course where the cart paths are at their worst, including this section as well.
